Forged in the 1960s or 70s during the height of the mid-century Brutalist movement, this sculpted centerpiece bowl turns raw industrial building materials into organic form. Hand-welded from scores of flattened iron nails, the lattice radiates outward like a geometric bird's nest or the cross-section of a pinecone. Its maker took cold, rigid metal intended for construction and bent it toward art — a study in texture, shadow, and structural balance.

Sourced from an estate sale, this piece carries a warm, bronzed patina over its dark iron welds. Because it is formed of open wire lattice, light passes through it to cast striking, web-like shadows across any surface it rests upon.
